WE ARE THE SIMS

Movie enthusiasts, inspired storytellers, and outdoor lovers

We, more than anything, love to create. Documenting is great, but not everything to us. What completes it is putting expression in the re-telling of moments.

We describe our style of shooting as candid film-like moments. We help direct you so you don’t feel lost. When shooting with us, you’ll get the hang of just being yourself and honestly having a good and memorable time.

our love story

our love story

We are invested into your story, so it’s fair to give you a glimpse of ours!

Here is a snippet of our time in Big Pines Lake during our 5th year into dating. And well, this really shows who we are! A balance of sincerity and impulsiveness.

We are basically 2 nerds that hit it off right away. It didn’t take long for us to move from friends to dating. What we always felt would happen, though it didn’t right away, is to blend our creative energies together into something we both enjoy. Now, we’re business parters, spouses, but still each other’s best friends

ABOUT US

MICHELLE - Lead Photographer, Cinematographer, Editor

A camera has been in my hand from a young age until now. My life was surrounded by music, movies, and an entrepreneurial family. Photography then undoubtedly grew from a hobby to a profession.

It was photography that led me from Texas to Southern California where I had an internship, and where I met my now husband, who helped making me stay, a reality. Since then, photo and video have evolved to be a big part of my life. The fact that I can call all this my work, is a blessing.

I’m a true believer of documenting moments around us. There’s something about a camera that allows us to capture a memory that becomes the past, and we can share it for generations to come.

ALEX - Lead Cinematographer, Editor

It started out with GoPros during snowboard and lake trips, and from then on, I’ve always looked for many ways to see the world. I’ve always been driven by coffee, and also the excitement of trying new and better filming techniques, then watching and piecing together those shots in an edit. I can say I enjoy equally being behind the camera documenting as well as editing in post.

Having gone to school for a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, I love creating, and also often see problem solving manifest in many ways of filmmaking, where editing and shooting loop back into another. Being attached to both aspects is what grounds continuity to the work, so it can be enjoyed to it’s best potential
